Many KYB street street bike forks feature aluminum damper rod bushings. Aluminum is a poor bushing surface and does not seal the top of the cartridge well. The aluminum bushings contribute greatly to fork oil contamination as well as wearing out very fast. This results in a loss of damping in both compression and rebound. These low friction bushings seal the cartridge better and give more damping on both compression and rebound.
